Eve St Claire's ingenuous beauty is a snare which complicates the lives of all who are drawn to her, amongst whom are Nicholas Wyatt, a barrister, who offers her love and security; Father Paul Morel, who has to resolve the agonising dilemma of his passion for her and his commitment to the Catholic Church; and, not least, David St Clair, who has to face up to the reality of his own dangerous attachment to his daughter.
