St. John and the Seven Veils — William Babula

A rich San Francisco woman recognizes a brutal serial killer as her son--a Vietnam veteran listed long ago as dead in action. She asks St. John, head of the St. John Detective Agency, to prove her son alive before contacting the police. With the help of partners Mickey and Chief, he easily does so; he then sticks with the case when asked to find the vet's daughter.
