Cloyd Atcitty can't forget the horror of seeing a reckless trophy hunter shoot and kill what might have been the last grizzly bear in the Colorado mountains. Now, in the high country again, he witnesses the tragic death of a mother grizzly -- and he knows he must rescue her helpless cubs.

Despite the approach of the mountain's deadly winter, Cloyd risks his own life to save the cubs. To do so, he must protect them from both nature and man, living among them and becoming one of them -- dancing himself into the power of an ancient heritage to spare the magnificent creatures that could be the last of the Colorado grizzlies.
