Nim at Sea — Wendy Orr

On an island in the middle of the wide blue sea lives a girl. But the girl is not alone. There is Selkie, a friendly sea lion, and Fred, the handsomest, funniest marine iguana that ever was. And Nim's dad, scientist Jack Rusoe, and their friend, the cowardly adventure writer Alex Rover. Alex arrived just recently, and life has been happy on Nim's beautiful island, at least most of the time.

Then, one day, everything changes -- Alex suddenly leaves and Selkie is seal-napped by a bad man and taken aboard the dastardly Troppo Tourist cruise ship!

And so the island girl sets out on a high-seas adventure to find her friends and bring them back to their island home. Little does she know that the ship will take her to a very different island -- one where buildings soar into the sky and millions of people live, work, and hardly blink an eye when a sea lion and an iguana show up in Central Park.

How will the small-island girl handle this big island? Like the can-do kid she is! But can she do it?
