When their play closed In Boston, Clare Lister and Eddie Gibbon found themselves out of work... again. For Clare and Eddie, it was an old story, part of every young actor's and actress's struggle for stardom... along with such disappointments as Clare just missing out on the lead in a New York-bound musical because the producer decided at the last minute that he didn't want to take a chance on an "unknown." Even more painful for Clare at the time was the break up of her romance with talented young director John Stuart. So shrugging off unemployment, Clare and Eddie accepted the invitation of a fellow actor to weekend at his family's estate -- right next door to the "Hattie Wilson Home for Indigent and Invalid Artists," the last place either of them would have thought of looking for one theater "angel," let alone three, ready and eager to back them in a daring scheme for Broadway stardom...
