Description
When Alec's fiancee is killed in a tragic accident, he flees west with the Black. Dazed and heartsick, Alec wanders in the desert until a Native American boy rescues him from near death and recounts a startling prophecy. According to legend, a rider on a black horse will appear at the end of the world and save the tribe. Alec shrugs off the wild tale -- until disaster strikes from the sky.
Sadly, the tragic death of Walter Farley's own daughter, Pam, inspired the companion books The Black Stallion and the Girl and The Black Stallion Legend. In these two books, he memorializes his daughter's free spirit, her love of horses, and his abiding grief at her loss.
