Sheriff Al Corning was as tough as they came and with his four seasoned deputies he kept the peace in Laramie - at least until the squatters came. To fend off starvation, the settlers took some cattle off the cowmen, including Jonas Lefler. A hard, unforgiving man, Lefler retaliated with lynchings. Things got worse when one of the squatters revealed he was a former Texas lawman - and no mean shooter. Could Sheriff Corning prevent further bloodshed?
