Dead Men Leave No Trail — Tony Masero

It was a strange killing for no apparent reason.
Four dead men that leave town marshal Nate Cooley with a problem. Was it a hallmark murder or just plain random? Then there is the suspicious arrival of the renowned gunfighter Doc Blue Buckmeister, a man who is strangely eager to step in and take a hand.
Arriving at the JLW Ranch in search of leads Cooley finds the wealthy owner is more intent on chasing after his sexually precocious young home help than assisting the course of justice. In the midst of it all Cooley discovers not only a whisper of romance but also another ghastly fatality.
Following the bleak trail brings more mysterious mortalities and as the bodies pile up Cooley and his deputy are faced with an array of horrifying and apparently motiveless murders that appear to be linked in some way but ultimately make no sense.
Is he following the bloody trail left by a mad man or is he being led?
