Petrion was moving his hands frantically when Haslan turned again to look at the camp. For a moment Haslan didn't understand what the ranger was trying to signal, but then realized there were a lot more horses in the camp than Petrion reported. More horses meant more brigands. The odds which weren't great to begin with had just gotten a whole lot worse, and it was too late to call off the attack.
