Jennifer Donleavy leads an enviable existence: married to handsome actor Andrew 'Don' Donleavy, living in a picturesque Suffolk village, tending her lovely garden and the owner of two dogs; what more could she want? A friend, perhaps. And when novelist Suza Darc comes to live in the village, she becomes Jenny's companion and confidante, the sister she always wanted.

Then strange accidents begin to occur: or is someone doing these things deliberately? And who is it who sends Jenny the anonymous letters warning her to take care of her husband? Surely it's just a coincidence that Don and Suza both have business in London on the same days -- and Don's new-found desire to combat middle age by diet and exercise is only natural for an actor ... isn't it?
