Description
The proposition for a massive cross-island highway through remote Sitka, Alaska, is met with bitter and heated controversy: conservationists oppose the destruction of the pristine wilderness, while others see the green of tourist and developmental dollars. Resident Marcy James leads the fishing community's fight to defeat the highway -- a stance that soon turns deadly.
Her spirited and intelligent twelve-year-old son, Gavan, attempts to spy on the consulting engineers, looking for evidence that could stop the construction. But his youthful enthusiasm sets off a murderous chain of events -- and anonymous threats to Marcy demand she leave town until the proposal passes...or her son will be the next to die. Terrified but determined to protect her family and uncover the true motives of dangerous, powerful individuals, Marcy sets a trap for a killer -- using herself as bait.
