Given the name Plumly and dyed pale blue by the good lavender witch, a ten-year-old girl from the mountains of California is plunked down alone in the Orrun foothills on the world of Boad, where she is expected to find a story within forty days to prove herself worthy of being named New Chronicler, a goal she has been training to reach for the entire two years since she and her family were brought from Earth to live on Boad.
