It's 1944 and the War is dragging on. Reverend James Jack Dunn, the leader of West Parish Universalist Church, must contend with a congregation that is touched by a war that seems to drag on forever. Many husbands, bothers, sons, and friends have gone off to war with the knowledge that they may not return.Jack Dunn has his own problems. His personal life seems to be shifting as he takes a break from the church only to take over the running of the family farm for the summer. His sermon, Who is my brother? changes how he views even the enemy. Meanwhile his best friend Aden Stackpole and Aden's cousin Barbara receive new assignments from the British government.
