Gabriela hiked up the skirt of the stupid dress her mother had forced her to wear and set out with more determination. She was going to show the boys that she wasn't afraid of anything. As she walked down the path towards the house and saw she was drawing near the edge of the village she looked back at the boys behind her. They made motions for her to keep moving. Gabriela steeled herself and kept moving on. The girls of the village would be weaving baskets, gossiping about their neighbors right about now, or talking about their favorite dresses.
