When Alicia Bellows is found beaten to death behind an abandoned nightclub, Tate Valley, California Detectives Alexis Adams and Penelope Dao are on the case. Alicia's murder leads them to a host of possible suspects including Alicia's married lover, and one of her closest friends who might know more about Alicia's murder than she lets on.



Alexis becomes even more obsessed with getting Grant Copeland while sacrificing her job and her new romance with Kevin Reed. Despite the fact that she can't keep her hands off Kevin whenever she sees him, Alexis is still frightened to trust him when it comes to her plans about Grant.



Kevin gets jealous of Alexis' attention on Grant and wonders how far she'd go to get to the truth. After Kevin and Alexis have an intense argument, he contemplates walking away until Alexis finally admits that she loves him.



Alexis comes up with a master plan to get Grant to admit his sins, but soon realizes that it won't be easy to beat the player who invented the game.
