The Cause of the Chain — S.K. Epperson

Documentary maker Hugo Emory arrives in Maryland to make a film about his sister and brother-in-law, professional ghost hunting historians and their famously haunted Hunford House. While there, Hugo runs into the last person he expects to find under their roof, the daughter of a judge and a state representative, the girl who got him arrested for statutory rape years ago and changed the course of his life. Elsa, now a senator's wife, is equally shaken to see Hugo again and without knowing how she knows, suspects the forces at work in the house, and in her head, intend to change both their lives again.
