Description
Book Four:The ‘Some Of Many’ is the last novel in this Sci-fi Series of four parts. It would be advantageous for the reader to be at least familiar with 'The Waterman' before reading this last book in the series, but ideally the four should be read in order. In retrospect there are two stories in this series, the earlier one in the first two novels is told by a New Euron named Mark, and the second is told by two narrators from the perspective of vestigial colonists of Earth. All the stories however, do occur five hundred years into the future and during a very tumultuous time for humanity. The 'Some Of Many' picks up pretty much precisely from where the end of 'The Waterman' would have left the reader hanging (my apologies), and it tells Ivan's story. Out of necessity, Ivan begins a brand new life up top in a strange new world of freighters, tugs, and ferries where various captains, bosuns, able and ordinary space mariners nurture and mentor him into a real leader of men in his own right. He learns all the right things from the right people, and all the wrong things from the wrong people too, just like most of us have, but his experience is going to take him to a place that no one could ever envision.
