A howling blizzard forced Victoria's car off the road, toward a shuttered house that looked strangely familiar to her. Incredibly she found the house full of strangers in the same predicament -- the house was a refuge in the storm -- but they were trapped there.

The twelve others were: the strangely distant Neil; his amiable companion Keith; Margaret, a lady bus driver; four frightened children in her charge; Alyce, who was slowly disintegrating because of a broken marriage -- and four ghosts…

Now that Victoria, the thirteenth and last guest had arrived, the house could come to life -- or was it death…?
