Pretty Jinnell DuMortaine loved her life in New Orleans-her job designing needlepoint patterns...her apartment, which she shared with her little cat, Patches. But one day Patches brought home a dead bird ,it's feet bound with black string. Thus began Jinnell's sinister ordeal...her first encounter with the evils of voodoo.

When Jinnell suddenly became heiress of a plantation in the steaming tropics, her time of terror arrived. A huge dog appeared from nowhere to save her from being killed by two attackers -- said to be the living dead.
