Early 19th century: London's Drury Lane theatre district is the lair of the Resurrection Men, suppliers of corpses to the medical colleges.When wealthy Lionel Furthingale's daughter disappeared 25 years ago, she was assumed dead, a traceless disembodied victim of the Resurrection Men. Furthingale has now learned from a note scribbled on a playbill that his daughter not only lived an unknown number of years, but she gave birth before dying. Detective Morgan Bateman is hired to find granddaughter Priscilla. Morgan and his bluestocking assistant Victoria Eubank discover why the mother died, and must race to find the young woman before the Drury Lane murderer corrects the mistake.
