Description
Three generations of determined women find ways to support the expensive family estate of Bretton--Harriet, tough and self-sacrificing; her daughter-in-law Deborah; and her granddaughter Paddy, who must confront family scandal, memories, and forbidden love. Bretton Hall looks much the same in the 1920s as it did in the 18th century. But standards are changing in the post-war world and the despised tennant farmers are becoming richer than the Brettons and Paddy Bretton has to face dramatic choices.
