Gloria and her best friend, Shawna, are about to start high school, and they've already planned their exciting new social life. Bossy, doll-faced Shawna will find a boyfriend first. Then she'll get him to bring along a friend for Gloria, and they'll double-date and rule the school.

However, it's Gloria who catches the eye of Marc, the hottest boy in ninth grade, and she quickly learns that there's no rule book that tells you how to be a girlfriend.
