Libby Pilgrim, staid and sensible college archivist, wouldn't have kidnapped Joshua Noon without a very good reason. And what better reason could there be than the protection of her beloved Maine coastline? But nature didn't cooperate with the environmentally minded Libby.

A broken rudder. Strong currents. And Libby, Joshua and their little boat were drifting out to sea, facing doom at the hands of a nor'easter.
