Description
Hatred is easy. That's why it's common place.
Welcome to a very British war. A war like any other war. No politeness, no honour, no heroes. Just death, torture and rape.
Forget the notion that the atrocities of modern civil wars are the disease of a foreign psyche. Forget the feeling of superiority we get whilst safely watching the news from faraway places.
This is a war from the nation that first brought you concentration camps. This is from a country that committed mass murder on several continents and deliberately starved people within its own shores.
This great country of ours has as many forms of bigotry and mistrust along racial, religious, regional and class borders as any other nation.
What keeps peace in this country? The Stiff upper lip? A sense of what is right and wrong? Peace only exists when it is in the mass interest, when it is the path of least resistance. Violence is ever present in any society, bubbling under the surface. All it needs to leap into action is a catalyst.
