Description
Originally published in 1881, this work by English nature writer, Richard Jefferies, is a novel. It follows the story of his child-hero, Bevis, who lives on a farm named 'Longpond', explores the countryside and meets the wildlife. He discovers that the animals, plants, and streams, can speak to him, and much of the tale focuses on his interaction with the natural world. However, he runs up against the local tyrant, a magpie, Capchak. We are republishing this work with a brand new introductory biography on Jefferies, to help place this publication in context with his other works.
