This question leads to a game of cat and mouse between one man, trapped by the homicidal implications of an impetuous act, and a most unlikely detective--shy, grandmotherly Evelyn Wade, who lives a thousand miles from the crime, but whose job as a telephone surveyor puts her right at the scene.
