Description
The problems confronting Hal Houck and his sister Iris are all but crushing in number and complications. The bad luck began when Iris had been engaged to marry Will Ainsley, a man more than twice her age. Before their wedding day, he got drunk and shot his pistol wildly. One bullet struck Cal in his leg, paralyzing it. Although Iris was still receptive to Will, Rafe, a neighbor, wanted her for himself. When Iris refused even to see him, Rafe brought Cal up short by telling him that the lease was up on the range where his 300 horses roamed. Cal and Iris had 10 days to get the horses off the range or he would begin shooting. Among the horses was the thorough bred they called the Iron Horse. When Cal asked Will for help, he agreed to join forces in an apparently losing battle. The two begin rounding up the horses and pitting their endurance, knowledge and determination against the elements. For their part, Rafe and his brothers join with the forces to work against them.
