Description
April loved her small town home, her devoted mother, and her boyfriend. But when the theater offered stardom and a new love, how could she resist?
SOME GIRLS MUST CHOOSE!
April Holiday had always liked "play acting" as the older folks in Granite Bluff called her interest in the theater. So when a summer theater troupe came to town, it was no surprise to anyone when April auditioned. Only Greg Blake, her boyfriend was dismayed! But Greg eventually took pride in her debut and in the bigger and better parts that followed. He wanted her success...but his life would always be in Granite Bluff. Handsome director, Lane Branon believed in April. Believed she was a great talent. He was willing to devote himself to molding her career, and April found Lane and the life he offered enchanting. But would she be forced to choose between two loves? Or could she have it all?
Since April Holiday's high school days, she had wanted to be an actress. But Granite Bluff was far from Broadway, and until the Tower Players established a summer theater in the town there was no chance for local thespians to try their wings. Of course the visiting players, headed by Angela Bennett and Lane Brandon, had the leading roles, but persons in the community were allowed to try out for minor parts.
April's try-out was successful, as was her theatrical debut. But Gregory Blake realized that her career would never keep pace with her dreams and that, if she persisted in the theater, heartbreak might well replace the initial flush of triumph. This he felt he was saving her from herself by asking her to marry him.
April loved Greg but, like many other women before her, she wanted to have her cake and eat it too. So she decided to continue for the run of the play and asked him to wait -- while she acted.
