Mr. Roberts, a country gentleman learning the art of farming on her father's estate, was a very comfortable and agreeable companion whom Harriet found easy to trust. When he offered to accompany her to London to lend her sup-port, she was greatly touched and relieved.
But upon arrival in Town, she was to learn that her trusty friend, Mr. Roberts, had deceived her all along Harriet was so offended, she quite forgot the fact that she had fallen head over ears in love with him.
