Description
In February of A.D. 668, Fidelma of Cashel and her companion Eadulf are about to get married. As the sister to a king, Fidelma's marriage ceremony is a major event in the kingdoms of Ireland, and the High King, as well as the other kings and prominent figures, are going to be in attendance. One not-so-welcome guest is the fanatical Abbot Ultan, who, on the eve of the ceremony, is found murdered in his chamber. Worse still, one of the most distinguished guests, the King of Connacht, was seen fleeing from the scene and is now charged with the Abbot's murder. Now, instead of being married, Fidelma is the brehon appointed to defend the man accused of the murder that threatens to sow discord throughout the land.
