This is a Christmas love story about Laura O'Sullivan, a single mother with 3 part-time jobs, plus the full-time job of raising her 13-year old son, Chip. It's also about River Hudson, a writer she meets who works for the Greenwich Village Inquirer reading all the letters to the editor that are submitted, to screen them for publication. The newspaper has been receiving a series of very mysterious, hand-written letters from someone who calls himself Nick Claus. Nick writes with great passion and social awareness about the problems of our modern world, as if he were actually Santa Claus having a crisis.
