Most arroyos in the west were dry creek beds--but those that were filled with water were like gold to cattlemen and farmers. Blocking or turning arroyos led to range wars that lasted for years. When a cowboy's strong arroyo is damned by a cattleman who moves in onto adjacent land, a battle for the arroyo begins.
