Description
Returning from Africa, Christian de Villiers and Petrea marry. Christian establishes a centre for the investigation of cardiac arrhythmias in children. He quickly develops a national reputation and is asked to operate on Riccardo Pellegrini, the grandson of the head of the Australian mafia. The young boy dies after surgery and the hospital covers up an investigation into his death, as well as the drug use by its ICU staff. Christian is blamed for the boy's death. Antonio Pellegrini, the boy's grandfather, swears revenge on Christian and his family.Petrea, newly appointed as State Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, is introducing legislation to disempower bikie gangs, and potentially destroy their drug businesses. Following a police raid, a mobile phone is secretly delivered to her office. An undercover officer informs her that the phonebelongs to Anton Kaufmann, the head of the notorious Lucifer's Dogs bikie gang. The officer also tells Petrea that the phone possibly contains; the names of all Kaufmann's drug suppliers, the bikie's international bank accounts, names of corrupt politicians, and a paedophile ring, with a link to the local mafia. All the evidence Petrea realises, to put not only the bikies out of business, but also perhaps the mafia. However, the phone has a unique, seemingly impenetrable, encryption. Petrea thinks she has found a way to decrypt the phone, when Kaufmann learns she has it, and joins forces with Pellegrini. A nightmare scenario then starts to unfold, for Petrea and her family.
