Typically, Miss Silver came into the Greenings affair in the most casual manner, with the innocent desire to do no more than match some wool for her niece. All too soon she found herself immersed in a furiously perplexing case of blackmail, jealousy, and greed involving two contradictory wills, two competing would-be heirs, and two suspicious drownings.
