When Camilla Corinto invited her friend Venus Middleton to visit her home in Mexico, Venus couldn't know that the invitation masked a hidden motive. Nor could she guess that asking her to bring along her grandfather Middleton's old archeology notes would open a Pandora's box of evil better left locked.

It was a strange household Venus moved into. Everyone seemed unduly interested in the Middleton Notes: Camilla, her proud Mayan grandfather, her playboy uncle, the servants -- even an American psychiatrist who kept popping up in Venus' path.
