CHILLED
Ruth Willmarth, busy working to keep her rural Vermont dairy farm and her personal life in a manageable state, is plunged into a mystery. It starts with a finger bone, and leads to a skeleton.
New neighbor Fay Hubbard has just opened a farmhouse B&B and finds her home invaded by its original owner, a gutsy septuagenarian who announces the dead body is that of her husband--whom she murdered twenty years ago.
But the poisoning of local birds, the strange goings-on at a women's shelter, and the arrival of Fay's first boarder, not to mention a bizarre discovery about the bone, put Ruth and Fay in the middle of a twisted history of hatred, blackmail and murder, as deep and dark as the rich Vermont soil.
