Although Jenny Barclay is strongly attracted to Simon Halliday, she fears that his feeling for her is too strongly influenced by her likeness to Marcia, with whom Simon is very friendly. Jenny has been asked by her brother to keep an eye on Marcia, who works for an old woman and her grandson Rodney in Rotorua, New Zealand. Jenny soon discovers the reason for this -- Rodney is not all Marcia believes him to be.
