Inspired by the legend of Spartacus, SPARTACUS DID THE RIGHT THING is a classic journey story and a meditation on freedom. Raw, profane, gripping and poignant, Mike Tucker's second novel is a tribute to the US Navy SEALS, a stunning homage to the Black Lahu, Hmong and Karen hill tribes of northern Thailand and a no-holds-barred tale of raids against Burmese Army slave labor patrols. Mike Tucker journeyed to northern Thailand to research SPARTACUS DID THE RIGHT THING in the winter of 1992-3, living with the Black Lahu, Hmong and Karen hill tribes on the Thai-Burmese border and throughout northern Thailand. He is the author of 22 books, including 14 volumes of poetry, and received Honors in Poetry in 1982 and a Masters in Literature in 1999 from James Madison University. The only author under fire with US Navy SEALS from DEVGRU (SEAL TEAM SIX) after September 11th, Mike Tucker now lives in the Near East, northern Thailand and the Straits of Malacca, where he is writing his third novel, 1931, which will be released internationally in the fall of 2012.
