Zig & Hildy — Mette Ivie Harrison

Zig and Hildy is a contemporary young adult retelling of the German medieval epic, The Nibelungenlied (minus the Wagner detour!). Hildy is a high school senior, deeply in love with Zig, who takes her on a backpacking trip in the middle of winter so he can bathe in the water of a dragon's pool and make himself impervious to all magic. but it doesn't quite work.
