Twenty stories are meant to make you, in turn, very sad and very happy. There are about ten themes which are discussed in the book, including love, brotherhood, parenthood, adoption, betrayal, trust, and enjoying the little things, as well as charity. These themes are tackled through both Breaks, which try to capture the instant a person's heart breaks, as well as Hearts, which are much sweeter in nature and evoke positive feelings. The final result, of course, is meant to be a bittersweet mixture.
