It is the heady sixties in Liverpool, and the Flowers, the Baileys and the McDowds are three very different families bound together by music. Against all odds in this male dominated world, the girls form a successful group, only splitting to go their separate ways, Rita to find ever greater success as a singer, Marcia to become a mother and Jeannie married Lachlan, she cruelly to deceive the husband she loves in order to have the family she longs for, and no one is prepared for the deceits and betrayals that lie ahead.
