When Matthew Williams, a young Canadian, inherits a hill farm in North Wales he leaves his college course and flies to the UK take up his inheritance. But the farm he has inherited is run down, and with no knowledge of farming, Matthew relies on Lark, a traveller girl he meets in the village, to help him.

For Lark, Matthew's farm is the first steady home she has known for years, and enchanted by the countryside, she throws herself into getting the farm back on its feet.

But when Matthew's father arrives suddenly from Canada, none of their lives will be the same again.
