Beyond the Wall — Mark Roberts

The book follows the story of Jonas King, a young boy living in the city beyond the wall. He has always wondered as to what lay beyond the wall, but the whole world around him seems to push him into silence. Then he meets Lily, the flower that may grow beyond the wall, and lead him on the adventure of a life time, no matter how short-lived. This book was written in just 30 days, as part of NaNoWriMo.
