Harriet Sullivan, an employee of a technological school had invented a tiny device which, when embedded into someone's body could detect illegal activity by the wearer. Her employer wanted to popularize the device and make it mandatory for all to wear. Harriet feared this action would be immoral and made her feelings known. Nancy, on the other hand, insisted the school go ahead with her idea.
