Lovely Young fashion designer Cristen Rogers returned from a buying trip in Mexico for a sad occasion--the funeral of her best friend, Vicky Calhoun, Vicky a fashion illustrator for a number of important stores, had been staying at Cris's apartment when she was run down by a hit-and-run driver. Much to her dismay, Cris soon learned that the police and Vicky's father, the influential Judge Calhoun were not convinced that the beautiful woman had been killed accidentally. Shortly before her death, Vicky had mentioned that she had almost been hit by a car, that someone was following her…But who? And more important, why? Neither of the young women knew any “criminal” types.

Through Judge Calhoun, Cris met Steven Meredith, a tall, handsome lieutenant in the homicide division. Steve was a young man determined to solve the crime and protect Cris, if necessary.

All too son, Cris realized that protection is necessary. Someone, something is haunting her, following her, putting her and those who love her in danger. There will be no respite until the culprit is caught. But there is no evidence, and Cris can think of nothing she or Vicky had done to incur the wrath of a killer. The discovery of some of Vicky's final sketches give them a faint clue.

Cris and Steve must fit the pieces of the puzzle together before the killer can strike again and destroy the fragile link that is growing between them.
