Description
She found a career with the fashion House of Ninon and the right man to love...if he would let her.
Troubled times.
Stacey Harrison has two good reasons for feeling nervous about coming home; her new job with the House of Ninon, one of San Francisco's top fashion houses, and her widowed father's marriage to a woman she has never met. As it turns out, everything about Kay Harrison is lovely -- looks, voice, manners, clothes. Why, then, can't Stacey warm up to her?
Caught up in the excitement of the world of fashion, Stacey doesn't have time to worry about it. That world fascinates her ... and so does David MacLean, Madame Ninon's handsome but rude nephew. Fascination, however, turns to dismay when Stacey learns one of her designs has been stolen. And the shock hasn't quite worn off when she begins to suspect another, more serious, kind of betrayal closer to home.
STOLEN DREAM...
David and Stacey started through the big arch into the reception room but never completed their entrance. Madame Ninon's assistant, Miss Jason, was suddenly, urgently beside them, pulling Stacey back into the foyer.
"You mustn't go in," she said. Her face was even whiter than her beautiful white hair. "Your dress--the one you're wearing, the one you designed--an exact copy of it is inside!"
Speechless, Stacey stared at her.
David frowned. "What do you mean, the same dress? How could--?"
Miss Jason whirled on him. "The design was stolen of course! It's on one of Roxley's models--and the word has been passed that it's a Roxley original...!"
