Description
Joan Yelland, a beautiful heiress, tired of the social whirl of Sydney and seeking to recuperate from an unhappy love affair, flew away from it all to the solitude of a cattle station in Northwest Australia. There she found a new and exciting life. She learned how to swim a swollen river on horseback; to protect a homestead when a cyclone threatened; to sleep beneath the stars.
In addition, she learned to fear the spell cast over her by a handsome stranger on a black horse, whom she met by moonlight, who called himself the Moonshiner, and who -- she eventually found -- was pledged to another girl.
