In the aftermath of a high school tragedy, introverted Emma Cahill hits the trifecta of bad luck: victim, suspect and sole survivor capable of engineering the crime. The police are determined to solve the case, but dealing with teenagers creates challenges, particularly when survivors are reluctant to cooperate.
