Description
A Not-So-Gentle Past is a novel with a Southern setting. It is the story of the Buels from England who settled in America following the French and English Revolution; for ignominious reasons the Buel name in America has changed to Ubel and Blue. A not-so-gentle past began when Ezekiel Blue sired two baby girls, one bi-racial, and what transpires when the two half-sisters meet again as adults. The saga moves through three generations of Ezekiel Blue's descendants, culminating in murder over inheritance of Blue Meadows, the family estate and dairy enterprise, in the third generation. The present owner is also one of the South's most prominent artists. He attempts to escape the family disgrace and his prominence as an artist by moving west, assuming the Ubel name, and losing himself high in cattle country.
