Her grandmother's will named Michele Maynard sole heiress to a twenty million dollar fortune. There was only one condition: Michele had to spend a year at Wildwood House, her grandmother's rambling mansion on Puget Sound.

Michele arrived at Wildwood late one night, her first view of the house obscured by a thick and sinister fog. She hated the place on sight and was convinced the house hated her too. Her fears soon proved to be well-founded: someone or something in the old mansion was determined to make sure the pretty young heriess didn't live long enough to collect her grandmother's estate.
